While in Paris on business, Harvard symbologist Robert Langdon receives an urgent late-night phone call: the elderly curator of the Louvre has been murdered inside the museum. Near the body, police have found a baffling cipher. While working to solve the enigmatic riddle, Langdon is stunned to discover it leads to a trail of clues hidden in the works of Da Vinci -- clues visible for all to see -- yet ingeniously disguised by the painter.

Langdon joins forces with a gifted French cryptologist, Sophie Neveu, and learns the late curator was involved in the Priory of Sion -- an actual secret society whose members included Sir Isaac Newton, Botticelli, Victor Hugo, and Da Vinci, among others.

In a breathless race through Paris, London, and beyond, Langdon and Neveu match wits with a faceless powerbroker who seems to anticipate their every move. Unless Langdon and Neveu can decipher the labyrinthine puzzle in time, the Priory's ancient secret -- and an explosive historical truth -- will be lost forever.

THE DA VINCI CODE heralds the arrival of a new breed of lightning-paced, intelligent thriller…utterly unpredictable right up to its stunning conclusion.

December 08, 2008: The Da Vinci Code written by Dan Brown is a great adventure/mystery novel. This book is full of action and excitement. Another great thing about this book is that it makes you think. This story, which is the second book to Dan Browns first book Angle and demons, is about a man named Robert Langdon who is a professor of symbology. He was giving a speech on ancient symbols in Paris, London when he was called the Louvre museum to a crime scene where a Jacques Sauniere was laying dead spread eagle representing the Vitruvian Man, and written on the floor beside Jacques Sauniere was 13-3-2-21-1-1-8-5 O, Draconian devil! Oh, lame saint! Fache the head police officer had told Langdon that they needed his expertise?s to solve this crime but what Robert didn?t know was that Fache had made Langdon his number one suspect and had no intentions on using his help. All Fache planned on using Langdon at the crime scene for was to arrest him on the spot. Before Fache could arrest Langdon Sophie Neveu a cryptographer for the police and granddaughter of Jaques Sauniere arrived and rescued Langdon from being arrested because what the police didn?t tell Langdon is that also with saying under Oh, lame saint was P.S. find Robert Langdon and Sophie knew her grandfather was trying to tell her something. What they didn?t know was that Jaques Sauniere was part of a secret society that protects a very sacred secret about the Holy Grail. A group or another religious group called the Opus Dei was trying to get the secret so they could get the keystone, which would allow them ultimate power. Silas the man who is disciple in the Opus Dei is the one responsible for the deaths of the men who held the secret and killed Jaques Sauniere. So this becomes a race to see who can follow all of the clues and get to the holy grail first find out the secret and keep it safe while running from the police. I recommend this book for people who are interested in mysters, adventure and like to think and put puzzles on to situations. This is well written captivating book.
