July 30, 2004: According to legend, Heinlein was given the concept of 'Sixth Column', and was supervised during the writing by John Campbell, who conceived a weapon that could selectively incapacitate races...a concept Heinlein, understandably, found distasteful. It is to his credit that the novel works, and is such an exciting 'read'; in fact, it is one of his better stories during a most prolific period of his career. But it has stirred controvery since it's publication!
